Hello folks, I hope that you’re all staying healthy, safe and well during lockdown. What a crazy year it’s been so far! The madness started just as I got a full quota of students together for the first time since starting face-to-face teaching and then it all came grinding to a halt for us overnight.
I have continued teaching on skype during this time which is working out nicely, although there has been the odd occasion where I’ve asked students to do something a little mentally taxing and thought that the screen had frozen, when in fact they had just frozen in concentration!
I’ve also started doing some work for Sound On Sound magazine as their Podcast Production Manager. This is a huge honour to be asked – anyone that knows the magazine will know that they’re referred to as the industry bible and are highly respected across the globe. Check out what we’ve been working on here – Sound On Sound Podcasts.
As for Keyboardist, apart from being a place where I could share the enthusiasm for the latest kit and our favourite performers and recordings, I’ve always wanted it to be an accessible learning resource, so that anyone can learn to play. So from this month onwards you’re going to start getting free weekly lessons for all age groups. For anyone that’s always wanted to play, there’s no excuse not to now!
There are still a limited number of skype lessons available, plus for those of you that want some nice framed certificates of your accomplishments on your wall, you have the chance to prepare for ABRSM and Rockschool exams alongside our own syllabus. Whether you want to play rock, pop, jazz, classical, blues, gospel or prog, we’ve got you covered!
