While synth’s do have preset sounds, the whole idea behind them is sound design – creating a sound that is unique to you. This can be achieved by tweaking existing sounds or on more advanced synths, by creating sounds from scratch using your own samples and enhancing them with the editing capabilities on your synth. Many synth’s also have real time control over sound parameters for better live or studio performance options.
